A Stranger As Well As a Friend

Fty car dropped me at the GZ east railway station where I saw there was a foreign lady, i.e, Mrs.Caro as thin and little as me , anxiously looking for sb. to help. She was looking for the place where she could buy a ticket to SZ. She carried a lot of baggage. I helped her with her baggage, leading her to the ticket window. Our tickets were in the first compartment in the arrow train. There is not baggage shelf above. The baggage had to be put in the aisle, pushed backward and frontward now and then by passers. They were three cushions, two pillows, and one heavy bag with her daily utensils. They all have the same brand of Yijia which is also available in SZ. Women are always crazy with shopping without considering the afterward transportation troubles. The train started off. Voices were silent down. Train played rock and roll. Caro Read English Novelist Ruth Rendell’s thriller : The Thirteen Goes Down. It was amazing that fragile Caro likes thriller. I was going through the last chapter of Invisible Man Afternoon’s sun and flying tedious scenery outside made people sleepy. However, while I looked out of window, feeling a kind of glamour with unsteady lights flashing like a tune played by leaves and houses, hoping the train will never stop, the road will never end and I will never return. Imagined that, once I opened my eyes again, found myself lost of memory. From there on, started a new life. “ Do you live in SZ?” Caro started off a conversation with me. As an English lady, she has a very rhythmic and sweet accent which again reminded me my teacher from England. If she was still in the world, she would be 80years old this year. Caro however did not regard England as her hometown. “It is quite hard to say where is my hometown. My mom and dad were divorced when I was 7years old. I lived with my mom and moved quite a lot. Then I was married to french husband. We have a home at Paris. I prefer to call Paris as my hometown for I like Paris very much… ” For the first time, I thoroughly looked into her eyes which is a kind of charming grayish blue, with somewhat understanding. Paris under her narration seemed being in front of me. “Paris is in a valley. It is a big peaceful park. There are hills with beautiful curves at suburb. In summer, there will be hot waves attacking and making Paris even hotter than SZ or GZ....." Enlightened from her book, we turned to the topic about thief and robbery. " I was stolen once nearby Shangri Hotel. It was a young guy. When he opened my bag and was going to take out the wallet, I seized him by hand. Then he was frightened and run away as quickly as he could." She laughed. "It is a skill learnt from your thriller." I laughed. "I was robbed by one mustached guy in Paris one year ago slightly before I departed for China. It is not only Shenzhen but also a lot of international cities where robbery occurs. ” She smiled friendly while knowing I am a half sz citizen. One day, when I stand in Paris Avenues, probably I will remember today’s conversation We then talked about our Oct. holiday's plan. Her plan will be Tibet. I gave her some tips. " I will avoid the tourist peak by going there in the end of October. “In France, there are 3 holiday sections. They take turns to start off holiday of February and December by one week's interval." "This is quite good idea to avoid the traffic jam. Hope China will one day carry out the same. " I said. We were like old friends. She told me happily she was lucky to have a daughter and a son. "It is a shame." She lowered her head," My daughter can only speak French and English though she is now studying in a Chinese school in our French Community of Daya Bay...” Then I guessed she was a wife of a french expert in Daya Bay. She kept on, “Are you married?” “No.” I felt a little bit shamed and sad too. We arrived at 5 o'clock. She insisted on not taking taxi for there will be about 10minutes walk form Railway Station to the place where Daya Bay Staff Shuttle stops. I helped her with her heavy baggage. She shall be a woman who has exprienced a rough time. Her bags were really very heavy. Even only carrying 1/3 of the baggage, I swept a lot and gasped hard. As passing the Shangri-la Hotel, she stepped the ground under her feet and told me that is exactly the site where a thief failed to steal the wallet from her. As passing the Newspaper Stand, she stopped and wanted to buy me sth. but I said no. She took a Chinese Daily which is her daily newspaper. " One time, there was a China Daily of which my daughter appeared in the first page." She looked very proud....... At the bus station where Daya Shuttle will stop, she waved good bye with a very warm and grateful smile. She was a stranger who made me feel really good. It was very comfortable to talk or walk with her. There is something in Common between us which is without identification of Countries. Sometimes I fancy if it will be a day when people do not call each other "foreigner".
