My wonderful memory of the National Day Holiday－－By Don

My wonderful memory of the National Day Holiday is made up of many events, and I just choose a few events to detail. 1. The scary night ride on day 1. From 6.60 pm to nearly 8.00 pm, I just followed the blinking rear light of the biker ahead, as I had not brought a front light of my own. When a car approached us, even though I tried to look away, I was often caught in the glare of its headlights, and so for a few moments afterwards I was dazzled and could not see. In that time I was actually riding blind, and with great relief finally caught sight again of the little red light twinkling ahead. I never looked at a star in the sky so intently as that twinkling red light, or ever found a star as beautiful as it was that night. 2. The steady leading of the peleton by Sonic and Kent. For hour after hour they pulled the rest of us along in their wake, like two big tug boats pulling a string of barges along behind them. By reducing the wind resistance it cut the effort by 20 percent, and even then I had to call for a rest quite often. I am sure that those two strong young men could have gone a lot faster and stopped less often if we were not there to slow them down, but they always agreed willingly to stop, and never hurried us. 3. Riding past paddy (rice) fields of a brilliant fresh green colour, both on the coastal areas and even in folds up in the hills, where there are terraces. The countryside seemed to me to be quietly prosperous, and there were often new houses being built, or improvements being made to the farm buildings. 4. The beautiful red brick house of Kent's parents, where we spent the night of day 3. I now have a picture of the house and courtyard as the screensaver on my PC. Its beauty was only matched by the gentle courtesy of his parents, who were so natural and made all of us feel quite at home, at once. And I could go on to describe the ferry crossings, the huge meals, the towns we passed through, the friendly people we met on the road, the amazingly fat pigs, the thousands of ducks and geese, and so on. I have lived in China for nearly 2 years, and this ride has been the highlight of that time. 下面是应某ZT的要求给翻译了的，从外国人的眼睛里看世界，真的很有意思。 国庆节这几天发生的事情给我留下了美好的回忆，我仅选择一些事情来给大家详细讲述一下。 1、让人心慌的第一天夜骑。 由于我没有买一个属于我自己的车前灯，在晚上6点到差不多8点，我只有跟着前面骑车人的闪烁的尾灯骑行。当前面有来车的时候，炫目耀眼的汽车灯光总是经常照进我眼里，照了一会后，我就被眩的什么都看不见了，实际上相当于闭着眼睛骑行。汽车过去后，由于前面有小红灯在闪烁，又让我慢慢恢复了视力可以看到它。今天晚上，我从来没有比看这个闪烁的红灯那样专心的看过星星，也没有发现比它（闪烁的尾灯）更美丽的星星。 2、Sonic和Kent的扎实稳定的领骑。 一路上，他们两个拖着我们其余的人在他们的后面，就象两条拖船拖着一串驳船。由于他们这样努力的在前面顶着风，后面的人可降低20％的风阻。即使是这样，我还是不得不叫他们经常的停下来让我休息一会儿。我相信如果没有我们拖累着他们，这两个强壮的年轻人可以骑得更快而且停下来休息得更少一些。但他们总是欣然的自动停下来让大家休息，从来不催促大家快走。 3、骑车的路边，水稻还是很灿烂的新绿色，在海边有稻田，甚至在丘陵之间都有梯田种着水稻。乡间在我看起来是那么的平静和繁荣，有很多正在修建着的新房子，或者正在翻新的农场房子。 4、在Kent父母漂亮的红砖房子里，我们度过了第三天的晚上。我现在已经把那幅有房子和庭院的照片作为了我PC的屏幕保护。他父母文雅谦逊，让我们很自然的有回到家的感觉。 我还能继续记述摆渡渡口、丰盛的食物、我们穿越的城镇、路边我们碰到的友好的人们、让人惊讶的肥猪、数千只鸭子和鹅，等等诸如此类的事情。我在中国已经生活了快两年了，这次骑行会成为这两年中闪亮的部分。我期待着下次在中国各种乡下的难忘的单车骑行。 你们的朋友： Don Miller 相关链接： http://www.doyouhike.net/forum/163576,0,1,0.html http://www.doyouhike.net/forum/162474,0,1,0.html 相关PP： http://www.doyouhike.net/forum/159952,0,1,0.html

老头写得蛮有意思的。。。 DON老当益壮啊，到阳江那天就见识了他的实力，隔天为了赶到电白吃午饭，一直跟着队伍高速骑行6个小时，佩服。 |
