HK<-->LA is from Air China
LA <--> Acapulco is from Mexicana. (Note: leave at least four hours in LA for connection.)

The online booking is available for Mexicana and the price difference is little.

Hotel: Crown Plaza in Acapulco. It's located in the middle of the coast and close to most attractions. The room has a great sea view!

Consulate General of Mexico
3004-06 Shui On Centre
6-8 Harbour Road
Wanchai
Hong Kong

I choose the two cheap airlines. Air China is from HK to LA, and then Mexicana is from LA to Acapulco via Mexico City. The total expense is around HK$11k (including everything). I think this is the cheapest tickets that I can get. The connection in LA International Airport takes four hours which may be enough.
There is the Mexican consulate in HK. I haven't applied the visa yet but it shouldn't be a problem. You may check the top postings to find out the addresses of those countries' consulates. Also the following website provides lists of most consulates in HK and the requirements for visa application. http://www.chinatravel1.com/zhengjian/qianzheng/shenban.htm

Hope you have a good time too!

My destiny for this trip is Acapulco only. It's an exhausted trip but the wonderful view and warm Mexicans compensate.

Some practical tips if you travel from HK or any other city in Asia.
1) Only limited cities in US provide direct flights there. Most others have to transfer from Mexico City. I did my transfer in LA and to be safe, leave four hours for connection.
2) The transfer in Mexico City Airport is also a little bit time consuming as you need to change from international flights to domestic flights (a long walk). When you get back, it's vice versa. It's better to leave 2 hours for connection.
3) Acapulco has a nice view, but the city is not hygine enough. My cut took a while to recover. So it's better to bring some medicine. Otherwise you may be like me, spending almost 100 bucks in the clinic.
4) You need to bargain all the time and you need to bargain hard! Everything is negotiable (except for medical treatment). :) I found a lot of fun in bargaining with Mexicans.
5) Let taxi driver take you to the open market in the downtown for hand crafts. Stuffs there are tax free and you can get them with little money..of course it depends on your bargaining skill and patience.

They are warm people, although very aggressive.

i was in the south mostly, in the state of Oaxaca and Chiapas, they are both very nice places with safe accomodations and warm people....
In Chiapas, San Cristobal de las Casas is a MUST! so are the Palenque ruins
In Oaxaca, Mazunte Beach and puerto Angel are good beaches!

Yea, what I found yesterday, from HK to Mexico City is about $1370.. and from Bangkok is almost the same.. I think 11,000HKD could be the cheapest one.

So you bought flight ticket from China-travel agency ?

I can't find Bolivia, Peru, or Chile embassies in the top post..

I'm thinking maybe I can get a Mexico visa, and when I get there, I can apply the others in Mexico.

I searched from the websites first and then asked an agent to book the tickets. You may also book the flights from Mexicana online and the price is almost same. Regarding the visa, I think it depends on your passport. I know some countries like Chile and Peru are visa free for HKSAR passport holder.

I didn't have a chance to experience such potential danger at all, as my hotel is located far away from the downtown. The area close to the airport is mainly for tourists, so much safer.
