It’s one of the most tiresome thing is to write down the same story twice, thus, I chose to work my way on different subject as travelogue, Thai people had impressed me perfectly with their hospitality and kindness in last trip. Itinerary: HK-Bangkok-take train to Suraphani-take ferry to Samui Island, same way back to BK, take train to PATTAYA, then BK-HK. (For my travelogue, please open this Chinese link for the article I posted in another MF board.)

Six days in Thailand, I met countless nice Thai people.
First day, air port corridor, before entering Thai customer, I met an information kiosk, well, good thing to see, so, I asked the lady stationed there about some bus route, train and so on… ..in the explaining moment, her cell phone rang, but to my surprise, she did not answer it, instead, she kept explaining for me until conversation finished……nice lady and first person I spoke to in Thailand.
One unpleasant experience was omitted in the limo charter booth.
Again in the airport hotel reservation center, I consulted with them about hotel and also ticket affairs, their answers to me were proved to be incorrect later, but still, I am happy, because they did not mean to lie to me, and because they were really passionately helping me.
When reaching the main station (where we are going to take train to Suraphani then Samui), the sudden appearance of a fluent-English-speaking young man really surprised me, he helped to ask the ticket office assistant to get ticket, and even advise me some timing affairs and finalized by telling how to get taxi to KAOSHAN road to find hotel after we bought the ticket for tomorrow, in a word, he was non-for-profit passionate young man specifically helps those lost-look tourists to get ticket, which is very helpful in indeed.
It’s a nice stay in Kaoshan road. It’s composite of mini United Nation, in the registry book, you can see many countries origin listed, and my Chinese autograph there seems to be very odd. The hotel receptionists were nice, and they laugh a lot in response to my jokes.
Next day, we went to the National Museum, it really takes us a while to find it, but it was a delightful searching, in the street when we were in disorientation, one Thai jump forward in asked : “Where are you going?” I was then explained to him, with his positive help, surely it is not difficult, even at the gate of National Museum, when we remained a little bit confusion, one guy looked like mafia (with his glass) asked the same question. And later we realized he just wanted to tell us “this way!” More funny is, he said : “ You looks like Thai people.” Well, my resemblance is quite obvious, but I am 100% Chinese.
In the afternoon we hanged around the brawling shopping center, the people I was bothered for direction were countless, thanks to the amazing English level of the commonwealth, I got through it…the friendly smile, the regretful expression when they were confused, especially from a case: In the pavementI dropped my sun glass by accident, just right beside my feed, but one lady passed by swiftly stooped down, picked up and passed it to me! More importantly she is still in the phone while she was doing all these elegant actions….. In a another case, in the skytrain station, when I asked another nice lady about which platform to get to my destination, she found herself confused too, but, she did not just say “I don’t know.” And leave it, instead, she turned around and asked the other passers by (in Thai language of course), this is another impressive case ……let’s not get to the citizen quality issue that fast, the whole Bangkok city in a very good harmony!
About 20 hours after that, we arrive at Samui Island after train+bus+ferry+limo long traveling, the way we caught the limo was also special
chatted with a small Thai guide on the Ferry, and mentioned to him that I want to go to LAMAI beach on the island, however, he listened and did it, he informed my situation to another man (without my request), and that man came to us and lead us to a limo ( it is not really one but nice car), anyway, we got to my beach effortlessly.
In our 24 hour-stay on the island, there are tons of beach+sun+resort+good food experience. People on the island are mostly relaxed, generate good trust to each other, I have to mention something special, that is, there is not special security facility in the hotel except the poor lock on the door, windows are shielded by glass only, the touch between residents and outer ambience is comfortably closed. When checking out, the counter asked you: “Did you drink anything in the mini bar of the room?” I said “NO”, that’s it, no special envoy was sent to check it and I just left (I paid my room in advance in full).People believed in you, which is the most primitive way to be but now in my city Shenzhen, diminished.
It is a no-other-choice short stay in this celestial island due to my limited vacation, however, I know clearly that I will come back here again for much more prolonged stay, not only just for the island, but also for the atmosphere dispensed in this island which attracted me most.
Same way back to Hualamphong station and we remained there to wait to another train to our final city to visit, PATTAYA. In the railway station, while waiting, I chatted with a local girl who sat next to me, she came to the station to pick up her mum, again, I bothered people to traffic tips when encountered a chance. Concerning how to get to airport from PATTAYA in a cheapest way (I think ahead), she had no idea as well……that is ok, but surprisingly, she said she will like to call her friend to ask, I was overwhelmingly moved, and I had the right answer later for sure.
Another 4 hours train to PATTAYA----the prestigious city for Chinese regular tourists.
In PATTAYA, in my eye the city of flowing desire, could never be my recommended destination as a backpacker. And the Thai people there were heavily affected by the backbone industry, etiquette had lost, I knew it especially from a taxi driver cheated me by charging me fare for 100 when actually needed only 20, I refused of course, I took taxi 3 times in PATTAYA, each of them are regretful experience….this paragraph should be omitted, because I was trying to convince you, dear reader, Thai people are fantastically passionate and nice.
Hope you could have chance to experience it. Again, say I am a fool, but living in a depressive city like Shenzhen, where people lost trust to all strangers due to security reason, had disappointed me a lot, thus, in another world, where people remain the essential virtue, duly aroused plenty of my odd feeling and good feeling.
Thank you for reading.
Row spacing is not enough to please my eyes.
Row spacing is not enough to please my eyes
it made me so tired, but i have read it .
maybe in shengzheng ,people can do such things too,you dont catch it only.
as rare enough, I was borned in this city and do not talk to me about patriotism, because I have more than it should have. But, as undeniable as hell, our city lost the spirit of helping each other in routine. I am in deep despair of this all the time.
