The ‘’flat’’ part on the piston head is the injection gate. This is where the poly acetal resin is injected in the mold.
It has also has a big feature. If you open quickly the tank valve (not recommended), this ‘’notch’’ allows air to distribute evenly under the o ring and preventing the o ring twist.
As the ‘’notch’’ is on the outer flange, the o ring presses on the opposite flange when pressurized, so there is absolutely no problem for the o ring.
