A place like that would need a catchy slogan...
"XXXXXX dive shop - where even strokes get to stroke!"
"buddy breathing - it's easier than you think!"
"XXXXXX dive shop - dive with the breasts!"
Suggestions welcome

What are you looking for? Nitrox? Trimix? Rebreather? Overnight at the resort? Certain types of food? Food variety? Etc.
#3 is a beach resort as opposed to a dive resort. You'll have people playing volleyball, riding jetskis, etc. That's not to say that won't provide diving but if they do, it's not their top priority.

No Nitrox etc.. just standard tanks, and we prefer the dive shop with adequate equipment and good boat, DM etc, and budget accom. Last July we dove in Sabang with Mermaid Divers. They charged us $8 for the budget room above the dive shop, and $25 per dive incl. full eqp.

halthron's being a tad nice here...
#3 is the dive resort equivalent of refugee camp... there's gonna be a multitude of people grilling fish, making noise, running around, singing on a BIG number of those god-forsaken karaoke machines...
just remembering it makes me shudder
you're even better off in a korean resort trying to communicate with a korean who can't even speak english than forcing the issue with #3
that being said, the resorts the PPD have recommended will be great options for you

Hi! Just some comments on some of the resorts...
1. I've been goin' to Montecarlo exclusively for the entire year. You won't see tropical themes here. If that's your thing, try somewhere else. 5-star amenities, like hotels in the city. bathtub/jacuzzi, refrigerators, split-type aircon rooms, king size beds, room service via phone. good diving. you can get the gas mix you need (or bring your own), many tech divers go there too. however, they do have a huge, slowpoke boat (might as well rent your own from the locals). and of course, there's the korean food. if you can take kimchi, you'll find this place absolutely excellent.
pakmanJuly 25th, 2006, 09:49 PM
Kimchi? ah good ol' fermented spicy cabbage... works well as a shark repellent...

CoalBoyJuly 25th, 2006, 09:55 PM
as for #3...
hmm... you probably got a load of comments from the other divers on this thread but guys, remember, #3 is not designed for us. its for the beer-drinking, porkchop-grilling, and bring-your-own homemade spaghetti family outings, with concrete floors and bathroom tile table tops.
dove there during the past year's international cleanup, discovered that the first thing they needed to clean up was the resort.
and by the way, they're not cheap either.
CoalBoyJuly 25th, 2006, 10:03 PM
#22 is also one of my favorites. Villa Ligaya is small, homey, has great food and accomodations. its a tech diving facility which caters to everybody. so you can dive singles, doubles, nitrox, etc. or if you're not into tech, you can do a nitrox class there or just dive. the dms are really great (they're tech dm's so probly they should be)
they don't have a pool though (unlike monte carlo, which has 2).
best of all, they have several sppedboats which can get you anywhere in anilao, verde island, or even puerto galera really quick.
pakmanJuly 25th, 2006, 10:06 PM
Coalboy, thanks for the good info... are there any worthwhile deep dives in Anilao?
CoalBoyJuly 25th, 2006, 10:30 PM
there are lots of sites you can go deep. but worthwhile, i dunno. i'm not too much into "goin deep for the sake of goin deep", you know? but i particulary like mapating cave, at around 45m. ligpo island also has a drop off whic goes to probly more than 60m.
CoalBoyJuly 25th, 2006, 10:43 PM
as for #23, Aquaventure is nice 'coz it can fit lots of people and different dive groups. if you're sociable, you can mingle with lots of different divers with diferent levels and tastes. its a good immersion into the local dive culture. and if you're picky with food, you can order just what you want from the menu (or go all out buffet). plus they have other watersports for your non-diver companions, or just somethin to do during surface intervals.
jonixJuly 25th, 2006, 11:50 PM
same reco here favoring #23, home resort (aquaventure)

rcolmanNovember 25th, 2006, 12:45 PM
Not sure what that means, but I appreciate any help. This is a once in a lifetime trip to Ph. for me. There are SO MANY great sounding dive spots and dive operators, that any recommenations from local knowledge much appreciated.
Remember, while you guys are drifting around in clear, 80 degreeF water, I am crashing through the surf at 58 degrees with 15 ft. viz in cold Southern California waters. Consider yourself lucky ...

http://www.eaglepoint.com.ph
eaglepoint住的不错,也算当地比较大的潜店,服务总体来说挺好;
1,earglepoint
2,Aqura Reef Club
