Heng Shean Two Days Travel

Sorry, it is time for me to write something about my trip.
On Christmas Eve, Dec.24, we took the train(from SZ to ChangSha), it took us around 7 hours to arrive at HengYang. The time we arrived the station was about 12 pm. Finding a hotel to stay was really out of our expectancy, we had never though that Christmas would be so popular celebrated in such a small city. Crowds of crowds young people swarmed into the hotels to have their corroborees. Walking along the street, we looked for one hotel after another, the same answer: Sorry, we do not have any room to offer tonight. I was so puzzled, even in ShenZhen, a more capitalized city, youngsters seldom have such zeal to celebrate this non-indigenous religion day. But fact was fact, finding a place to live still remains a headache. Once I asked an receptionist of a hotel: why people come out to live tonight? She shot out her lips: Don’t you know this is the Christmas Eve? But what we did not understand: is it necessary for us to celebrate such a religion day which has nothing to do with our Chinese culture? Yes, we ARE out of date. Finally, we found a small inn to stay. Thinking tomorrow a heavy task was waiting for us, we fell asleep very soon.

The next day, we got up at 7:30 ( quite lazy ), having had breakfast, 8:30 we got on a bus to NanYue. It was about 1hour driving way to get the NanYue station. After that, it took us 20 minutes’ walk from Nanyue station to the HengShan Entrance. For both of us were not favor of any temples, so we simply cancelled the NanYue Magnificent Temple from our schedule. It was a overcast day, chilly and wet. It started snowing sparsely. Entrance ticket was 40 RMB. There are two kind of roads for people to choose, one is a well-constructed calzada winding among mountains, another is narrow meandering footpath. We chose both. On the way, we met a girl who lived up in BanShan Pavilion. We only spent 1 hour to get to BanShan Pavilion. Actually, this girl was married, she had a one year old son. ( To be continued)

This girl’s family ran a small restaurant . So we decide to have lunch in her small restaurant. Three dishes cost us 47 RMB, of course we bargained, and also ordered small portions. For it was the low season for tourism, so the girl’s family received the offered price without any hesitation. The dishes we ordered: Chinese cabbage, HengShan beancurd stew, and fried preserved ham with bamboo shoot. Delicious! We were so hungry and also due to the coldness, we swept up most of them. Drinking the hot tea and sitting in this small restaurant, I felt the heat began going out of my body. It was still snowing, the girl persuaded us not continuing our climbing but finding a hotel to stay at BanShan. But we had already made up our mind: continue our climbing. 11:30 we started our climbing towards NanTianMen. Now the road was getting more and more slippery. Every step with great care, the backpack seemed more and more heavier, and the wild wind blew stronger and stronger. The beautiful scenery gradually appeared before our eyes. Trees which opposite
