Considering Thailand

For those considering Thailand.
Please be clear, it is not dangerous at all to be traveling here.
The media appreciate exaggeration.
You needn't be deterred.

Hi Brett,
I am planing a group dive trip to thailand, but my friends (Thai Dive operator) tell me to come next year, will be better.

其实去那边最主要的问题就是怕交通延误引起问题(例如封机场),人身安全不用担心,8月底搞得最厉害那几天我也在普吉,机场封了,改走陆路坐大巴去曼谷而已。市面都没看出和平时有什么不同。:)

The above is correct.
The reason the airport was closed was because people that wanted to demonstrate against
the government were being given free flights.
The airport is back to normal, Phuket is normal. There are just a few people having a peaceful
demonstration in one part of Bangkok.

Fredde, may I ask where you intend on diving and which dive operator?
I have a lot of experience in the Similans and that side of Thailand is where I spend most of my time.

Ok,
So I guess you will be leaving from Phi Phi, or are you heading south from Phuket?
I don't know if you have heard or not but Hin Muang is basically closed now due to the
purple coral dying. Hin Daeng may also be closed until very late in the year.
In terms of diving it could be a good idea to head nth west to the Similans.
Koh Ha is not so nice, Pi Pi has 1 nice dive site, Hin Muang has been ruined.
Hin Daeng though is very beautiful, if it is open.

Hi
What time were you thinking about, in November?
I will be on the West Coast doing trips to the Similans from November 2008 - May 2009.
If you need any info about diving, dive sites etc just send me an e mail.
I think Hin Daeng is a place best visited by speed boat as a day trip and the Similans by liveaboard.
Look forward to hearing from you

Thailand now has a new populist Prime Minister.
There is absolutely no need for out of the ordinary
concern now..
Excellent,
See you in Thailand
