潜水请避开如下常见生物(Top 10 nasty list)

Just as there are plants and animals above the water that bite and sting and are poisonous, the same is true under the water. It is a matter of putting things in perspective. Above all diving is primarily about observing and passive interaction with the aquatic environment and as such your training will emphasize the importance of non contact with marine organisms (as much, if not more for their protection rather than yours) and you will learn all about controlling your buoyancy so you should never be in the position of getting bitten or stung.

To put the issue of poisonous marine organisms, I go out on dives specifically to collect footage of poisonous beasties. Despite going out looking for them I have often been disappointed so dont get into a state of mind that imagines they are everywhere lying in wait just waiting for you to happen along.

It is true that there have been deaths from bites and stings but very often these are victims who have been walking on the reef tops and wading through rock pools barefoot rather than divers.

The top ten nasty list is probably as follows

1. Stonefish (This remarkable ugly beast is named because believe it or not it resembles a weed/algae encrusted rock, it lies in wait for small fish and is armed with very poisonous spines that can be lethal)

2.Blue ringed octopus (rare and secretive octopus only a few cm across again its bite can be lethal)

3. Sea snakes of many varieties (sea snake venom is amongst the most powerful venom of any creature on earth but they eat generally small fish and as such have no interest in divers, leave them alone and they will leave you alone, although they have very powerful venom they only have very small fangs and it is estimated that of the very few people have been bitten only around 25% actual suffer from venom being injected)

4*Lion fish* (One of the most instantly recognisable and beautiful fish with long feather like spines and a pretty comical face, these spines are poisonous and can pack a fair whallop, look but don't touch)

5 Scorpionfish a relative of the Stonefish (all members of the scorpionodae faimily) these fish are masters of camofllage and generally sit around on rock ledges waiting for an unwary fish to venture too close. Like the stone fish they are equipped with spines especially along the dorsal fin which can pack a fair punch but not as poisonous as the stone fish)

6 Fire Coral. Its name refers not to its colour which is actually white but more to the feeling it leaves you with if you are careless enough to brush against it. It causes extreme skin irritation/blistering

7 Jellyfish, there are several species of jelly fish that are poisonous the most venomous being the box jellyfish (seawasp) and the portugese man of war. All jelly fish are easily avoided

8 Stinging hydroids, simple sessile organisms that love to grow on descent lines (or so it seems to me) and are more an annoyance than dangerous.

9 Sea Urchins, the main risk from these is simply from the spines which can be a pian especially the black spiny variety but again are easily avoided by keeping of the bottom. There is one toxic variety called unimaginatively the toxic sea urchin but again this is very rare.

10. Territorial fish some fish like trigger fish can become aggressive around spawning time but again are easily avoided

You may think Oh My god but not only are the majority of these creatures pretty uncommon in fact some do not even inhabit the Red Sea they are all easily avoidable by using the simple watchwords look and dont touch, that way you are not going to have any problems.

The vast majority of injury caused by marine creatures is due to defensive rather than agressive behaviour and just by observing you are not likely to provoke a defensive response.

Keep of the bottom, keep your buoyancy well controlled and dont touch and you will be absolutely fine. Enjoy your course and the beautiful world underwater.
