Nikon Warns of Imitation Rechargeable Batteries

Nikon has today issued a warning to their customers about the use of imitation Nikon Li-Ion batteries for their digital cameras. The products are branded as Nikon products but are not genuine Nikon products and therefore are counterfeit. Some of the imitation batteries are not equipped with a safety feature required for rechargeable batteries.

Nikon rechargeable camera batteries are high-energy devices that are designed to respond to heavy power demand and are manufactured to strict standards of safety and reliability.

Unfortunately it has come to Nikon’s attention that imitations of Nikon Li-Ion batteries for Nikon digital cameras are distributed in some countries. These products are branded as Nikon products but are not genuine Nikon products and therefore are counterfeit. Some of the imitation batteries are not equipped with a safety feature required for rechargeable batteries.

Please ensure that any battery used in your camera is manufactured by a reputable company to the same high degree of quality as Nikon's batteries, to avoid possible damage to your camera and potential injury.

Please note that Nikon has no responsibility for problems of any kind arising when using non-Nikon batteries in your Nikon digital camera. We therefore can only recommend using Nikon brand batteries that may be used with confidence.

In the CAUTION label on the imitation, Japanese characters "" is mistakenly printed as "" and some of the Kanji (Chinese) characters are mistakenly printed with simplified Chinese characters.
